GLOBAL TURBINE ASIA extends contract with RMAF for Makila 2A1 engine maintenance

Over-achievement in the past three years, with 100% component availability

Langkawi, Mar 23, 2017 –  Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd (GTA), a Malaysian born joint venture with Safran Group, providing engine maintenance works for helicopters and aircrafts, has successfully extended its Global Support Package (GSP) contract for an additional three years until January 2020, with the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) for 30 of their MAKILA 2A1 engines.

Dato’ Nonee Ashirin Dato’ Mohd Radzi, GTA Chairman & CEO was officially presented the good news of contract extension during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2017. 

GTA has exceeded the contractual KPI of 85% availability of engine components, delivering a perfect 100% over the last three years. 

Dato’ Nonee explained, “We have a Field Support Representative (FSR) on site and a dedicated team in GTA to support RMAF at all times. We also provide on job training to RMAF staff to ensure safety, maintenance and handling of the aircrafts are strictly followed. Furthermore, we also conduct quarterly meetings with the operations team to ensure all issues are properly addressed”.

The GSP is a comprehensive and complete maintenance management of military and parapublic fleets to ensure aircrafts are ready for take-off at all times.

GLOBAL TURBINE ASIA NAMED KEY SUPPORT TO HELANG FLYING ACADEMY, NEW REGIONAL FLYING SCHOOL IN IPOH.

Global Turbine Asia to provide engine services support for Helang Flying Academy, set to open its doors by third quarter of 2017.

Langkawi, Mar 23, 2017 – Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd (GTA), a Malaysian born joint venture with Safran Group has signed a memorandum of understanding providing engine maintenance works for helicopters and aircrafts to Helang Flying Academy Sdn Bhd (HFA), the new regional flying school based in Ipoh, Malaysia.

 

The MoU signed will see GTA & HFA discussing on Support By the Hour program for the future Safran Helicopter Engine equipment acquisitions and to jointly explore a mutual collaboration in training while respecting both parties’ interest and core business activities.

 

This contract will cover end to end support, allowing Helang Flying Academy to guarantee the excellence of the fleet of seven EC120 helicopters that it is currently acquiring. Safran Helicopter Engines will cover all phases of the maintenance process giving Helang Flying Academy a global support system that optimises maintenance costs and ensures on-time performance.

This MoU also covers Helang Flying Academy mechanic training by Safran Helicopter Engines which leads to HFA being the first Safran Helicopter Engines-approved centre for overhaul of helicopter engines in the Asian region.

 

Helang Training Academy is a joint venture between Major Flagship Sdn Bhd, and Defense Conseil International (DCI), the reference operator of the French Ministry of Defence. The JV was announced last year at Farnborough Airshow, in London and aims at providing training to Military and Civil operators from Asia and Middle East from its modern facilities in Malaysia.

 

“Having a well maintained aircraft is just as important as our experienced instructor personnel and experts providing state of the art training to our students. We are confident that GTA will be able to provide exceptional level of service required for our academy,” commented Charles Le Bot, CEO of Helang Flying Academy after he signed the MoU with Dato’ Nonee Ashirin Dato’ Mohd Radzi, GTA Chairman & CEO. The signing was witnessed by Valerie Patuel, COO of Global Turbine Asia, DCI President Jean Michel Palogos, Dato Zaki Zahid, Director of Major Flagship Sdn Bhd, Dato Rozabil Abdul Rahman, Director of Major Flagship Sdn Bhd and Franck Saudo, Executive Vice President, Safran Helicopter Engines.

 

“We are happy to and very excited to supporting Helang Flying Academy in their extensive operations . We are looking forward to daily ensuring excellence in our relations and to play our important role for their fleet availability and ensure safe operations with our engines ,” added Dato’ Nonee.

 

DCI, who is already a key customer to GTA’s partner, the Safran Group, has a renowned expertise in the helicopter field, both in pilot training as well as maintenance operations. The company will provide key specialists in providing training at the academy.

 

Currently, GTA and Helang Flying Academy are finalizing the details on the types of maintenance support which includes the comprehensive Support By Hour® service.

 

Helang Flying Academy targets to provide training for civil and government clients in the South East Asia region, which includes initial pilot and specific mission training.

Helang Flying Academy

Created as a joint venture between Défense Conseil International (DCI) and Major Flagship Sdn Bhd (MFSB) in July 2016, Helang Flying Academy is the first regional helicopter training centre in Malaysia. It allows Malaysia to offer helicopter training adapted to the needs of State agencies and the armed forces.

GLOBAL TURBINE ASIA TO INVEST RM 50 MILLION IN NEW MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN SUBANG, MALAYSIA.

EMBARGO UNTIL 21 MARCH, 11.45PM

LANGKAWI, MARCH 21, 2017: Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd (GTA), a Malaysian aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) company, has announced its plan on its manufacturing facility, which will be fully completed in 2019. This facility is in line with  GTA’s intention to expand its activities for M88 engines tools and aircraft parts manufacturing.

GTA chairman and chief executive officer Dato’ Nonee Ashirin Mohd Radzi said the facility would be located on eight acres of land in the Subang Aerospace Park.  The GTA Manufacturing Facility is proof of GTA’s commitment towards the government’s aim to become Southeast Asia’s aerospace hub in 2030.

“We are investing RM50 million on the facility’s infrastructure, machinery, equipment as well as on training” she said when speaking to reporters during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) here today.

“As a country, we have the talent and the expertise to drive the industry’s growth. At GTA, we believe in capacity building, which is why we will have a special training programme, which is dedicated towards producing highly skilled workers, specializing in the aerospace industry.

“The facility will create job opportunities and has received significant support from key institutional bodies such as the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA), National Aerospace Industry Coordinating Office (NAICO), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB),” she said.

The GTA Manufacturing Facility preview was officiated by the Minister of International Trade and Industry Minister, Dato’ Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

“The GTA Manufacturing Facility is proof that we have the capacity and the capability to make our mark in the aerospace industry. The aerospace industry in Malaysia is projected to contribute a total revenue of RM55.2 billion to the economy by 2030, when we realize our aspiration for the country to become the Southeast Asia aerospace hub in Southeast Asia by 2030,” he said.

GLOBAL TURBINE ASIA AND BHIC AEROSERVICES PARTNERSHIP STRENGTHENS MALAYSIA’S POSITION AS MRO SERVICES HUB FOR THE REGION

Langkawi, Mar 22, 2017 – Global Turbine Asia Sdn Bhd (GTA) and BHIC Aeroservices Sdn Bhd (BHICAS), a joint venture company between Airbus and Boustead Heavy Industries Corp Bhd entered into a partnership to provide support to the MMEA engine fleets. In the partnership, BHICAS will be providing nose to tail maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service for helicopters.

Dato’ Nonee Ashirin Dato’ Mohd Radzi, GTA Chairman & CEO signed a Support By the Hour contract with Tan Sri Ahmad Ramli, Executive Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of BHICAS formalizing the partnership between the two companies, where GTA will support BHICAS specifically in the engine maintenance works. The signing took place at the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2017.

BHICAS, currently the main provider of MRO services for Airbus helicopters owned by the Government of Malaysia and its related agencies have begun extending their reach to a wider customer base in the region, since its inception four years ago.
Tan Sri Ahmad Ramli said, “This partnership is timely as we are ready to position ourselves as the MRO hub in the region. GTA plays a crucial part in complementing the services we are providing, which is a complete nose to tail MRO services”.
Dato’ Nonee mentioned, ”This collaboration between GTA and BHICAS is proof that local companies are just as capable in providing world-class services in this extremely strict and demanding field of expertise, where quality of service directly translates to the safety of the aircraft”.

GTA provides Support By Hour (SBH®) service to BHICAS for its engine maintenance, a comprehensive service that provides financial and operational coverage that covers scheduled and unscheduled events, which limits the exposure to unexpected expenses.
